Common infantry units of the Space Wolves
The Space Wolves have some of the toughest, hard hitting units in all of Warhammer 40,000. They are all good at shooting and most are even better in close combat. In this article I’ll talk in detail about the most common infantry units in a Space Wolves army. If you own a wolves army these units will all be familiar. If you are thinking about getting an army of the sons of Russ then it should help you even more.
The first infantry unit I’ll talk about are the grey hunters. These troops are the most common in any Space Wolves army. Some who play the game have called the grey hunters the best standard infantry in the game. These troops come with a bolter and 2 close combat weapons. This gives them an advantage over regular tactical marines of other chapters. There are other upgrades you can give to a squad of these guys to make them even better in close combat. If you want to increase their shooting damage, give them 2 plasma guns or melta gun. These guys are so flexible. This is why they are such a mainstay in an Space Wolves force.
The next common infantry unit I’ll talk about in a Space Wolves army are the blood claws. Like all space marine chapters, the wolves have specialized assault troops. The blood claws get double their attacks on the charge but have a lower weapon skill and ballistic skill. This is because they are the green troops of the army. They make up for this fact because they can up to 15 guys in a squad. On the charge these guys are beasts.
The third common infantry squad in a Space Wolves army are Long fangs. These guys are considered heavy support, but they are on foot a lot of the time. These guys provide you anti-tank and anti-infantry capabilities. It just depends how you arm them. They are priced pretty low in the codex for what they can do on the battle field. They can also fire at two enemy units in a turn. You can’t beat that.
In closing, these are just a sample of lots of the ground troops available to a Space Wolves wolf lord. Grey hunters are a great solid unit that can fill a lot of different roles. Blood claws are a common sight in most wolves armies. Long fangs will take down tanks and infantry with ease. All these units combine to make a flexible fighting pack that can take down anything. There are other squads on foot that the wolves can take advantage of, but these are the most common infantry units you’ll see in a wolves army.

[...] Space Marines are the elite fighters of the Imperium, and they serve in a number of ways. They may be used as the frontlines for any battle, as small, special units for behind-the-lines missions, or they may serve as the bodyguards of the Emperor themselves. Space Marines are further divided into legions, with each legion being renowned for its own exploits. One such legion is called the Space Wolves. The legion of the Space Wolves remained loyal to the emperor during the Horus Heresy, in which the favored son, Horus, tried to overthrow the emperor. Since then, the Space Wolves have served unyieldingly under the emperor’s banner. Like all legions which have a number, the Space Wolves are labeled VI and are based in their home world of Fenris. Their primarch or leader is Leman Russ, a strong loyalist to the emperor. [...]
